In this tour, the walk difficulty level is Medium/Difficult! You`ll walk 7km, but downstream!
We leave from Porto towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and for coffee.
Get ready for adventure! After a short drive, we will arrive at the Walkways and go across one of the Longest Suspension Bridges of the World – The 516 Arouca! It spans 516m-long (1,692ft) across the valley and hangs 175m (576ft) above the Paiva river!
NOTICE: crossing the bridge is NOT mandatory. You have the option to skip it.
Then, you will walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 7km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging downhill along the left bank of the river.
The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! A delicious meal is deserved and it will take place at a beautiful typical restaurant! Meat, fish or vegetarian options available.
After lunch we’ll discover Arouca for a glance about local culture and history including convent sweets tasting related to Arouca Monastery.
Return to Porto.

Eine tolle Möglichkeit die fantastische Natur des Parkes, sowie das architektonische Highlight, die Hängebrücke, in kleiner Gruppe kennen zu lernen. Norberto ist ein super Host, sicherer Fahrer und ambitionierter Geschichtenerzähler. Dir Wanderung ist sehrgut auch für nicht geübte Wanderer zu bewältigen. Zum Schluss der Tour wartet im kleinen beschaulichen Dorf Arouca ein leckeres und regionales Essen auf euch. Alles in Allem kann nur zu empfehlen. Vielen Dank Norbetto für den tollen Tag.
10/10 highly recommended. Amazing bridge, lovely hike, gorgeous nature, and most importantly, our very passionate and knowledgeable guide, Norberto, made the trip very memorable and fun. My daughter (13) and I went on this tour on our 2nd day in Porto. We enjoyed it very much. After the bridge and the hike, we went to this small village for a lovely Portuguese lunch and learned about the history from Norberto. Then we drove through this brand new road which Norberto was very excited about and it saved so much time. He was kind enough to drop us by the Igreja de Santa Clara. Thank you so much, Norberto!! 🙂
Tour is fabulous and Noberto and team made it very well organised. Location and the walkway is amazing to experience and plenty of time given by the tour guide.
Der Tagesausflug war super! Der Transfer nach Arouca als auch die Wanderung selber haben ohne Probleme geklappt und konnte auch flexibel gestaltet werden. Sprich, falls man doch die Brücke überspringen möchte oder ab der Hälfte nicht mehr weiter wandern möchte. Auch das Essen im Restaurant war sehr lecker und es hätte auch eine Vegetarische Alternative gegeben. Luis, der Guide für unser Tag hat uns wunderbar begleitet und uns viele geschichtlichen und geographischen Infos gegeben! Ich kann diesen Tagesausflug nur weiterempfehlen!
