In this tour, the walk difficulty level is Medium/Difficult! You`ll walk 7km, but downstream!
We leave from Porto towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and for coffee.
Get ready for adventure! After a short drive, we will arrive at the Walkways and go across one of the Longest Suspension Bridges of the World – The 516 Arouca! It spans 516m-long (1,692ft) across the valley and hangs 175m (576ft) above the Paiva river!
NOTICE: crossing the bridge is NOT mandatory. You have the option to skip it.
Then, you will walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 7km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging downhill along the left bank of the river.
The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! A delicious meal is deserved and it will take place at a beautiful typical restaurant! Meat, fish or vegetarian options available.
After lunch we’ll discover Arouca for a glance about local culture and history including convent sweets tasting related to Arouca Monastery.
Return to Porto.

Great experience all around! Norberto was an excellent guide for this exciting tour. He knows the Arouca area very well and allows plenty of flexibility for breaks and took us to wonderful local cafes and we had the best local lunch! The Ponte 516 Arouca suspension bridge was thrilling and the scenery of the valley and Paiva River is breathtaking. It’s very safe and anyone (even those afraid of height) can enjoy it safely and appreciate the beauty of the valley. The Paiva walkways is well constructed, zigzagging along the roaring Paiva River. A relaxing walk in beautiful nature! I highly recommend this special experience with Norberto!
Amazing day!
We had a wonderful day with so much variety. Norberto has curated a true gem of a tour with so many layers from nature, culture and delicious food. Be ready for a good sweat, but the views and food at lunch will not disappoint. Just do it!
The tour with Norberto was absolutely amazing! He picked me up from my stay, was very friendly and explained the day to us in advance, so we knew what was coming. The bridge & walk was an great experience and the lunch afterwards was delicious. I would recommend 10/10 to book the tour with Norberto. Great experience and such a friendly person!
Met onze gids Norberto naar de Auruca Bridge en Pavia Walkway geweest. Hij kwam ons stipt op tijd bij ons hotel halen en bracht ons binnen drie kwartier naar de brug. Alles was perfect geregeld. Na de brug en de Paiva Walkway, die trouwens prachtig waren, stond hij aan het eind van de wandeling weer keurig op ons te wachten. Op naar een typisch Portugees restaurant waar we een heerlijke lunch hebben gehad. Op de weg naar huis nog in het plaatsje Auruca een klooster/kerk bezocht waar Norberto ook veel over wist te vertellen en na een kort bezoekje aan een typisch Portugees banketbakkertje weer op weg naar Porto en netjes bij het hotel afgezet. Deze trip is een echte aanrader. Alles prima geregeld en het geld dubbel en dwars waard!
What a great tour we had today! Norberto picked us up from our hotel at the time we had agreed. We got a lot of info about the bridge and the walkway and Porto. The bridge and the walkway was a very nice experiance. After the walk Norberto took us to a local restaurant where we had a very good meal with fresh local products.
We enjoyed norbertos company very much. It was a very good trip for a very good price! You could not do it cheaper if you would organize it yourself! We will surely recommend to go with enne tours!
