Let`s explore Guimarães, known as the cradle of the nation! And Braga, an ancient Roman city!
We start by visiting the Guimarães Castle, symbol of the beginning of the Portuguese nation, followed by a visit to the Chapel of S. Miguel and Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, where you`ll get to know the detailed historical background.
Afterwards, walk down the oldest street of the city to the UNESCO medieval city center where you will be dazzled by centuries-old beauty. Another landmark is the mythical inscription on the city wall saying “Here was born Portugal”.
After lunch, it is time to discover Braga. Visit one of the most beautiful and imposing sanctuaries in the country with amazing views over Braga: the Good Jesus Sanctuary with it's impressively beautiful staircase.
Time to explore the city center: marvel at the Cathedral of Braga, the oldest monument in Portugal! Wander around the modern center, see the gardens of Santa Bárbara, the Gate of the city and the main squares and streets.
Return to Porto.

Tour Reviews
Norberto was so accommodating from the moment I contacted him several months ago. We only had 1 free afternoon in Porto and he managed to switch with another couple to take us. His knowledge of the history of Portugal was amazing. He presented everything in chronological order so it was easy to follow. I can see why he used to be a history teacher. In the 5 hours we spent with him we had a relaxing but thorough tour of the cradle of the Portuguese nation. We learned not only the history of this amazing country but also the current culture. I’ll be back and not hesitate to contact Norberto to show me more to the fascinating Porto area.
Excellent tour guide and person. Explanations were simple but thorough. Norberto was respectful and he offered good advices for lunch. He also gave us free time. With no doubt we will choose him for another tour.
