Aveiro, the romantic Venice of Portugal and the stripped colorful fishermen houses at Costa Nova!
Aveiro is called “the Portuguese Venice”, so you can guess a city of romantic beauty. It is located by the ocean and has always been linked to the sea trade, fishing and salt production.
We’ll explore the old quarter, wander through the main squares, see the main buildings of Art Nouveau, the fish market and taste one of city’s delicacies: sweet-eggs!
The traditional boats called “moliceiro” fulfill the city with a unique and colorful splendor. And, once in Aveiro, a boat trip over the canals is a must do! You`ll board on a “moliceiro” – the traditional river boats – and discover the charming city through the canals.
A part of the colors and beauty of Aveiro is inseparable from the famous haystacks of Costa Nova. These traditional structures were used by fishermen to store their fishing materials and have also been used as beach houses throughout the years. Built near the beach, they welcome the sea with their façades painted in bright colored stripes.
Be amazed by the warmth of the Costa Nova fishing spirit which is still very much present in its sand plains. Discover the beach, the town and the history of this area!

Tour Reviews
Our tour of “Portuguese Venice and Costa Nova”, by Noberto, was a 5 star experience. It was nice to be toured around and he was very informative. We got to see some pretty places that we wouldn’t have normally seen. What I enjoyed the most was Noberto. We got to experience Portugal through the eyes of a local who loves his country.
Just a wonderful day with Norberto at Aviero and Costa Nova. Thank you Norberto.
